Cavemen & smartphones

A brief history-when did this all
start?
Since the the phone was invented in 1915 and then the cell phone in 1973 this technology that connects us instantly has been swiftly evolving over the years. In 1996 Nokia released the first mobile phone that enabled users to surf the web plus send emails to one another. You could say this was the start smartphone era although in the early 2000’s Sony released Ericsson R380 smartphone which used the first open mobile OS,Symbain. It was considered “one of the most important advances in science and technology” Popular magazine calmed. Since this event smartphones have taken off and every year companies have strive to make a product that would come on top an dominate. For a while most smartphones came from Nokia or Rim(Research In Motion) and mostly consisted of Blackberry OS,Windows CE/pocket PC OS and Palm OS. This all changed when Apple computers held a conference in 2007 an forever changed when they not only dropped “computers” from there name but announced the iPhone,This again revolutionized the smartphone industry forever. Fast forward to today and ask anyone if they can live without there phone and 98% of the time they will look at your like your insane for asking such a question.
  The effects- how society is
hurting
Now imaging your in a room full of your friends at a party all sitting on the couch and your on your iPhone texting a friend when you get a message from your other friend who is sitting only a few feet away from you. You around noticing that all your friends are on there smartphones. This has become a all to familiar scene these days. Smartphones are used mostly for texting, taken photos and browsing the web and they due pose a negative affect on peoples lives because of the portability of having a internet powered computer in your pocket, its addicting and because of this addiction to see what your friends are up to 24 hours a day has lasting effects on the health of ones self. Loss of sleep, reduced productivity, insomnia, eye strain and stiff muscles, shorter attention spans, dangerous driving, family neglect, lack of patience and abruptness. This is only a small list of issues caused by smartphones and these effects are not just witnessed from the teenage populace but also from people ages 50+. Technology evolves at a alarming rate and as it does society becomes a bigger slave to it, we already surpassed the point in which technology in our lives in not a privilege now but a necessity for one to go though out there daily lives. “Technology is blurring the lines and can inadvertently make this balance harder to achieve even though it has the ability to simplify matters if we can harness it correctly “ -iQwest
The Future-The path we are running
towards
We could go on all day about the negative effects of having a smartphone but my point is as I see it soon enough maybe not in the next generation but several down those teens might grow up in a world were the smartphone will have killed of the laptop & desktop computers. Humanity will have DE-evolved to the point were speech has disappeared and kids are taught to text each other. We will be enslaved to our phones so much that we will want to become one with them promptly having them implanted into our brains and/or eyes through some sort of prosthetic attachment. This will allow society to be 24/7 connected ultimately collapsing the meaning of society, as well the meaning of interacting. Smartphones have already penetrated the human conscious, CNN reports that people are around smartphones so much that a unconscious decision is made. It is called Habitually checking were the brain develops a habit of needing to check for new information from the phone. “Each time you get an e-mail, it’s a small jolt, a positive feedback that you’re an important person,” he says. “It’s a little bit of an addiction in that way.” -Frank,Do you obsessively check your smartphone? CNN It’s obvious that smartphones are not going away anytime soon if anything they will become more and more involved in our daily lives. It’s not such a bad thing having a small device in your pocket for quick and easy assess to information it certainly has proved us full in situations many times. It’s the fact that most people do not know when to just set the thing down an enjoy them self’s and the beautiful things around them. All those movies about technology taking over the world are not so far fetched anymore in the next several years there will be a computer capable of calculating at a level that matches and/or exudes that of the human brain. Will humans just be cavemen running around with smartphones? Things to think about.
In a world were it’s eat or be eating Technology seems to be winning.
